Things That Move!

The theme this week in the Almond Room is Things that Move! The kids were asked, "What are some things that move?" and the first thing everyone yells out is "Cars!" Next one I heard was "Excavators!" and "Airplanes!" All great answers and it helped that I already printed out pictures of some of these things and placed them around the room. After some questions about what you see on these transportation vehicles, I asked "What do they all have that is the same?" It's a door and Windows!  Our invitation on Wednesday-Friday was pictures of things that moved, construction vehicles, art and books! I loved getting to see what the kids created with the paint sticks and markers, and when they played with their new construction vehicles on the train table.

In our block area I tried to tie in our theme to the best of our abilities and see where the children took it. This week the kids took the blocks onto the train table and the floor and on Wednesday they built a ramp that turned into a parking garage, that added a street and some fences! On Thursday morning, they built a house with a garage for all of their cars to park inside!
