Rainbows of our own and Weather Posters

 In the Art Atelier on Thursday the kiddos got to make their very own rainbows! They each got a white piece of paper and a black sharpie and made their clouds. When they finished with their clouds, they picked each color of the rainbow and glued it to their clouds. They turned out so well.

Earlier in the week some of our friends noticed Miss Stacy making weather posters and wanted to make some too! Each kiddo chose the weather they wanted and all throughout the week we've been learning to draw them, learning more about them and talking about what we already do know! During table invitations, large group activity and the art atelier the kiddos made their own weather drawings and attempted to write the words. It's so fun seeing them try to write it on their own, the way they place the letters and how they interpret the way to make the letters. I love seeing them make the shapes and point out what letter they just created, the way they say "Look, I did it, I made an S" It's always about how beautiful they do on their own and their confidence in it. 

We can't wait for you to see the posters, the kiddos will be so happy to bring them home to share with you!

Back Like We Never Left!

  Oh, how wonderful our day really was!  I feel like all I have said for the past few weeks is Welcome Back or Welcome to our classroom, so forth and so on. I expected a little resistance in the beginning, maybe a few tears, but what I did not expect was just how quickly our Almond friends would jump right in to playing, exploring and making the experience their own. The morning started off with our friends finding their cubbies and placing their belongings inside, before I could even offer suggestions of where to explore; they were off to the races and playing with blocks, cars, puzzles and any dramatic play items they could get their hands on. It was absolutely beautiful and what I love most about working with these kiddos! They were indeed, back like they never left. Exploring Chalk!

 On Monday this week the art invitation was black paper and chalk. The kiddos love having chalk outside on the bike track or on the playground to cover the sidewalks in it. It's such a fun and easy activity that leaves the perfect kind of mess. It helps the kids fine motor skills as well so that's an extra added bonus. On Tuesday we decided to explore the different ways you can use chalk, one being, get it wet. The Almond kiddos got to see a little bit of a science experiment added to it when they dropped the chalk in the water and saw how the chalk reacted.. making bubbles as it started to dissolve. After letting it sit for a few minutes they took it out and used it on their black paper, creating chalk paint!  During small group, we talked about the different ways we could break chalk. The kids came up with using a hammer, their hands, throwing it on the floor, or stomping on it with their feet. We laid a big piece of black paper on the floor and let each kiddo choose a piece...

Music with Mrs. Mary

 On Wednesday we had another special visitor in the Almond room, Mrs. Mary! Many of you will remember her as some of your children's teacher last year or from her kiddos being in your child's class last year! Mrs. Mary has a way with kiddos using music and we thought it be a fun idea for her to come and play with us! We invited the Orange class to come over also! Mrs. Mary did the Keepy Uppy song from Bluey, some songs from our Davening playlist and of course a crowd favorite, We will Rock You by Queen. She did some response songs on her guitar and had the kiddos play with her and she filled this room with smiles and music.
